Google My Business Expands Post Character Limit
A Google My Business listing helps improve your online visibility. It highlights your company’s name, contact information, hours, and reviews. The platform also allows you to connect with prospective customers and clients through photos and videos. Another way Google My Business allows you to connect is through “posts.” When someone searches for a business, current posts are included at the bottom of the listing. If you click on the post, it expands and opens up in another widow, grabbing attention. The post can include an image, content, a call to action (order online, buy, learn more, etc.), and a link to a landing page of your website.
The amount of copy allowed in the post is limited – but Google just gave business owners more space to get their messages across. Barry Schwartz of Search Engine Roundtable shared how Google has expanded the allowed amount of copy from 100-300 words to 1500 characters.
Take advantage of this added space and create posts that prospective customers will want to see such as upcoming events, engaging videos, current sales, and tips and trends.
